A Letter from the Coller Society Planning Committee

July 29, 2010

Dear Friends,

We wanted to pass along the latest registration and entertainment information regarding the 2010 Clinical Meeting of the Coller Society in Ann Arbor from September 23rd - 26th. The opening reception will be held on Thursday evening at the newly-renovated and expanded University of Michigan Art Museum. Guided docent tours will be available as part of the reception. The scientific program will be held Friday in the Danto Auditorium in the Cardiovascular Center, and the Business Meeting will take place Saturday at Kensington Court Hotel. Social highlights of the program will include the Friday evening dinner dance at Polo Fields Country Club, with music by George Bedard and the Kingpins - an Ann Arbor tradition. As part of the spouses' program, a Friday morning chocolate-tasting and coffee has been arranged at Ann Arbor's famous Zingerman's Deli, with a tour of the deli and bakery to follow.

A Saturday afternoon football tailgate at the U-M Golf Course Club House will follow the Michigan-Bowling Green game. Entertainment at the tailgate will be provided by the RFD Boys. PLEASE NOTE: A block of 100 tickets has been reserved for a concert by Rosanne Cash at Hill Auditorium on Saturday night at 8:00. Tickets are $50, and can be reserved by checking the corresponding box on the attached registration form. A Sunday morning farewell brunch buffet will be held from 7:30 to 10:00 at the Kensington Court Hotel.

Golf and tennis will take place at the Polo Fields Country Club on Friday afternoon, with regular shuttles to and from the hotels prior to the Dinner Dance. Optional tours will also be offered that afternoon of St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital and the U-M Cardiovascular Center.

Blocks of rooms have been reserved at the Kensington Court and Holiday Inn Express hotels in Ann Arbor. Please reserve your room before August 17, 2010 to receive the special standard room rate of $104 per night; a King Executive Suite is $120 per night (please note this year's very low room rates!). Call 1-800-344-7829 or 734-761-7800 and mention the Coller Society to receive the conference rate.

Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) is only 20 miles east of Ann Arbor and serves as a major hub for Delta Airlines. Delta offers non-stop service from most major cities. Other airlines serving DTW include Air Tran, American, Continental, Frontier, Southwest, Spirit and United. The hotel is easily accessible by shuttle, sedan or taxi. Arrangements for transportation service should be made in advance. The hotel does not have its own shuttle service. Transportation to all Society events will be provided so rental cars are not essential. For those of you who want to spend time on your own touring the city and surrounding area, rental cars may be desirable.
